概要
アルヘンティーノ湖は、アルゼンチン最大の湖でその表面積は1,415 km²[1] である。平均深度は150m、最も深い場所では500mある。
ロス・グラシアレス国立公園内にあり、ビエドマ湖から流れてくるラ・レオナ川や、南パタゴニア氷原にある多くの氷河から溶けた水などが湖に注いでいる。湖の流域面積は17,000 km²以上ある。アルヘンティーノ湖からはサンタクルス川が流れ出し、大西洋へ注いでいる。
湖の南には、人口約2万人の町エル・カラファテがある。
