シオン連

シオン連（学名 : Astereae）は、キク科の植物であり、一年生植物、二年生植物、多年生植物、および木本植物を含む。シオン連の植物は、世界中で、ほぼ 170属 2,800 以上の種に分かれ、サワギク連に次いで、2番目に大きい連である。世界中の温帯地域で発見されている[1]。

シオン連の分類は、形態学の研究および1990年代のDNA解析による分子系統学の研究の結果、シオン属のような大所帯の属をいくつかの属に分離したこと、あるいは植物の関係をよりよく反映するために他の属に変更されたことにより劇的に変更された。R. D. Noyes とL. H. Rieseberg[2]の論文によると、北アメリカで自生するシオン連のほとんどが、単一のクレードに属し、共通の祖先であることを示した。 Guy L. Nesom と Harold E. Robinsonは、近年の研究に関与する最も重要な分類学者の2名であり、シオン連の再分類を続けている[1]。
