形態
全長20cm。
生態
ドングリキツツキと、穴だらけになりドングリを詰められた木
森林に生息し、群れで縄張りを構えて生活する。
枯れ木に大量の穴をあけ、その中に餌であるドングリを一個ずつ貯蔵する習性をもつ。そのほか、昆虫類や果実も採食する。
