ハヤ・チェルノヴィン

ハヤ・チェルノヴィン（Chaya Czernowin、1957年12月7日 - ）はイスラエル出身の現代音楽の作曲家。現在はアメリカ在住。

略歴

イスラエルで基礎を学んだ後、ドイツへ渡りディーター・シュネーベルに師事。さらにアメリカに渡ってカリフォルニア大学サンディエゴ校にてブライアン・ファーニホウとロジャー・レイノルズに師事して、博士号を取得した。ファーニホウの後任に選ばれ、サンディエゴ分校で作曲の主任として教鞭をとっていたが、ウィーンに短期間渡り、現在はハーバード大学の教授の地位におり絶大な信頼がある。1992年にはイスラエル人初のクラーニヒシュタイン音楽賞に選ばれた。

日本との関りが深く、朝日新聞から二度の奨学金を受けて[1]日本に滞在中、何人かの若手作曲家をマスタークラスで教えた経験を持つ。現在はアカデミー・シュロース・ソリチュードにて、隔年で作曲マスタークラスを開講[2]している。

2006年のザルツブルク音楽祭では、生誕250周年のモーツァルトの未完成オペラ「ツァイーデ」に自作の「アダマ」が融合する形で上演された。「後宮からの誘拐」に先んじた作風の「ツァイーデ」と、パレスチナ人とイスラエル人のカップルがパレスチナ情勢で潰される悲劇の「アダマ」の融合上演は、アイデアの斬新さとチェルノヴィンの視点の鋭さで成功を収めている。

2022年にドイツ音楽作家賞音楽劇作曲賞を受賞した[3]。

作風

騒音と楽音の境界線の音楽が特色で、ほとんどの作品に特殊奏法が用いられる。日系人の作曲家カズオ・高杉＝スティーブンスと結婚したこともあり、日本の楽器を直接用いたり、尺八を模するパッセージを使用したりするなどしている。新しい複雑性からの影響も顕著だが、あくまでもサウンド重視の音楽性のため、パラメータ関係は複雑ではない。近作は、民俗音楽からの直截な引用とも取れるジェスチャが聞かれる。現在はMaimなどユダヤの民俗芸能や自らのルーツを問う作品が多い。

ハヤ・チェルノヴィンに師事した日本の作曲家

朝日新聞の奨学金[4]で来日し、何人かの日本の作曲家を指導したことが1990年代にあった。ただし、これはマスタークラスであって、大学で正規に師事した正弟子ではない。
