タチアオイ（英語 hollyhock）のこと。
水戸ホーリーホック -上記から命名。ただし実際は水戸徳川家の家紋「三つ葉葵」にちなむものであり、フタバアオイ（タチアオイとは別の植物）に由来する。
ホリホック (コルベット) - 英海軍の艦船。
