マイケル・ウォルツァー

マイケル・ウォルツァー（Michael Walzer、1935年3月3日 - ）は、アメリカ合衆国の政治哲学者。プリンストン高等研究所名誉教授。

経歴

ニューヨーク生まれ。ブランダイス大学卒業後、ケンブリッジ大学留学を経て、1961年にハーヴァード大学から博士号（政治学）取得。プリンストン大学、ハーヴァード大学で教鞭をとり、1980年から現職。

マイケル・サンデルやチャールズ・テイラー等とともに、コミュニタリアニズム（共同体主義）の一人とされる。

リベラル左派の論客として知られるが、アメリカ同時多発テロ事件以後のブッシュ政権の対テロ戦争を支持した。また正戦論の復活によって、1970年代に正しい戦争の要件やルールを考察した著書『正しい戦争と不正な戦争』（Just and Unjust Wars ）が注目されている。
