リン・エスリッジ・デイヴィス

デューク大学で学び、政治学の学士号を取得。コロンビア大学で政治学の修士号および博士号を取得。

大学院修了後は、学究分野と政府活動に従事。国防大学で政治学と国家安全保障政策について教鞭をとった。また連邦議会上院情報特別委員会および国家安全保障会議にて職員として勤務。カーター政権では国防次官補代理（政策企画担当）を務めた。

1985年、ロンドンの国際戦略研究所にて研究部長に就任し、1989年まで在籍。続いてカリフォルニア州サンタモニカのランド研究所本部に参加。

1993年2月、次期大統領ビル・クリントンはデイヴィスを国務次官（国際安全保障担当）[# 1]に指名。上院の承認を経て、1993年4月1日から1997年8月8日まで在任[1]。

国務省での任務後は、ランド研究所に復帰。
