捨てること。置き去りにすること。
- 特に、人の死体をそのままにすること。死体遺棄参照。
- 刑法上の遺棄罪のこと。
- 民法における悪意の遺棄のこと。夫婦間の婚姻義務の不履行（夫婦#日本参照）、親子間の監護養育の不履行（養子縁組#離縁参照)などがある。
