ダイド（Dido、1971年12月25日 - ）は、イギリス、ロンドン出身のシンガーソングライター、歌手。デビューアルバム『No Angel』（1999年）は世界で2100万部以上を売り上げ 、ブリット・アワードを含むいくつかの賞を受賞するなど国際的な成功を収めた[2]。続くアルバム『Life for Rent』（2003年）もヒットし、2枚のアルバムは2000年代に英国で最も売れたアルバムの1つに認定されている[3]。代表曲に「ヒア・ウィズ・ミー」「サンキュー・ユー」「ホワイト・フラッグ」などがある。

来歴

1971年12月25日、ロンドンのケンジントンの病院にて生まれる、出生名はFlorian Cloud de Bounevialle O'Malley Armstrongと名付けられた[4][5]。兄にフェイスレスの音楽プロデューサーのロロ・アームストロング（Rollo Armstrong、出生名：Rowland Constantine O'Malley Armstrong[6]）がいる。母親のクレアはフランス系の詩人で、父親のウィリアム・オマリー・アームストロングはアイルランドの出版社を経営していた[7][8][9][10]。

子供の頃、自分の出生名の珍しさが原因でいじめられることもあったため、普通の名前を持っているように振る舞っていた（兄妹は子供の頃からロロとダイドという名前を使っていた[11]）。「ダイド」の名前は、カルタゴの伝説の女王ディードーに由来している。

「サンキュー・ユー」はエミネムが自身の曲「スタン」のサンプリングに使い、彼女をアメリカに紹介することになった。「スタン」のプロモーションビデオで共演もしている。

「HERE WITH ME」は、アメリカのドラマシリーズ『ロズウェル - 星の恋人たち』の主題歌となった。
