WIMP, wimp

弱虫を意味する英単語。
天文学においてWIMPs (Weakly interacting massive particles) は、電磁気的な相互作用をほとんど起こさず、電磁波では検出できない粒子からできている「冷たい暗黒物質」のこと。
コンピュータにおいてWIMPとは、GUIにおけるWindow、Icon、Menu、Pointerの頭字語[1]。デスクトップ環境も参照。
