アメリカ合衆国大統領の先祖の背景（アメリカがっしゅうこくだいとうりょうのせんぞのはいけい、英: Ancestral background of presidents of the United States）は、アメリカ合衆国の歴史を通しておおむね一貫している。マーティン・ヴァン・ビューレンとドワイト・D・アイゼンハワー以外の全ての歴代大統領にはブリテン諸島出身の先祖がいる。ヴァン・ビューレンはオランダ人の血統、アイゼンハワーはドイツ人及びスイス人の血統であった。またバラク・オバマは唯一西ヨーロッパ以外からの祖先を持ち、父方の家系が東アフリカのルオ族である。

13植民地で最も一般的な民族グループはグレートブリテン王国やアイルランド島北部のアルスターの出身者であった。他の背景を持つ人々（オランダ人、ドイツ人、フランス人など）は支配的な英語と主なプロテスタントの文化に同化させようとする試みを目にすることとなる[1]。

アメリカ内のいくつかの移民排斥主義の政治団体は外国との同一化に断固として反対し、そのような人々を「ハイフン付きアメリカ人」と呼んだ。セオドア・ルーズベルト大統領とウッドロウ・ウィルソン大統領はハイフン付きアメリカ人には率直に反対した。ウィルソンはかつて「ハイフン付きの人は誰でも準備ができたらこの共和国の急所に飛び込む準備ができている短剣を持っている」と述べた[2]。
