国果

 セルビア スモモ prunus スモモやそれからできる加工品はセルビア人やセルビアの多くの慣習にとって非常に重要である。[14]「家を建てるのに最も適したところはスモモが最もよく育つところだ」と言う諺がある。セルビア中央部のŠumadiは肥沃で、スモモとセルビアの国民飲料たるスリヴォヴィッツで有名。[15]

 スペイン ブドウ Vitis vinifera ブドウがスペインの国果たる所以は、おそらく400品種以上のブドウがワイン生産のために栽培されているからであろう。スペインにおいては、ブドウが新年を祝う際に重要な役割を果たす。大晦日の夜、時計がちょうど0時になり新年になると、12のゴングが鳴らされる。ゴングが鳴るたびに、儀式の執行司祭がブドウを食す。又スペインでは、幸運をもたらし、悪霊を退散させるとされている。
