岩崎明子（いわさきあきこ、Akiko Iwasaki, 1970年 9月13日 - ）は、日本出身のアメリカ合衆国の免疫学者。三重県伊賀市出身。

イェール大学医学部免疫生物学部門教授、全米科学アカデミー会員[2]。ハワード・ヒューズ医学研究所正研究員。研究テーマは、自然免疫、オートファジー、インフラマソーム、性感染症、単純ヘルペスウイルス、ヒトパピローマウイルス、呼吸器ウイルス感染症、インフルエンザ感染症、T細胞免疫、常在細菌など。2024年、米タイム誌「世界で最も影響力のある100人」に選出された[3]。

来歴

三重県伊賀市で生まれたのち、兵庫県川西市へ転居。大阪府立香里丘高等学校在学時に1年間のカナダ留学を経験し、帰国後に中退[4]。カナダの高校に入学し、卒業後、トロント大学に進学。1994年に生化学と物理学の学士号を、1998年に免疫学の博士号を取得した[5]。その後、アメリカ国立衛生研究所で博士研究員として勤務[6]。2000年にイェール大学助教授に就任。その後、准教授を経て2009年より同大学教授。2018年、全米医学アカデミーに選出された。2022年、イェール大学で最高の学術的名誉であるスターリング教授職を授与された[7]。

私生活

岩崎は手頃な価格の育児への支持を表明するなど、科学に携わる女性の擁護者としてよく知られている[8][9][10]。さらに、彼女は移民と移民による科学への貢献に対して支持を表明してきた[11]。岩崎は、パンデミックの初期にソーシャルディスタンスを保つことを提唱するなど、COVID-19に関する公衆衛生上のアドバイスにより、多くのTwitterフォロワーを得た[12][13][14]。
彼女はイェール医学校の免疫学者ルスラン・メジトフと結婚し、2人の娘EmiとNaomiがいる[15][16]。
